The Genus Arisaema comprises about 150 tuberous species from Eastern Asia,
the Himalayas, and Northern America. Some of them are frost-hardy.
It belongs to the subfamily Aroideae, tribe Arisaemataceae.
Most of them produce male and female inflorescences separately.
